Shougang Institute of Technology (SGIT) was founded in 1978. Its predecessor was the branch of Beijing College of Iron and Steel Technology. It is an engineering college sanctioned by the Ministry of Education and it recruits students from the entire society. It cultivates advanced technicians and management staffs for China.
　　It is affiliated to Shougang Group. The Shougang Group is a cross-regional, trans-ownership and transnational large-scale operation enterprise group. Apart from its main industry of iron and steel making, it is also engaged in a wide range of industries such as mining, machinery, electronics, construction, real estate, service business and overseas trade etc. With Shougang Corporation as the parent company, the Group has some subsidiaries such as Joint-Stock Co., New Steel Company, High-new Tech Company, Electromechanical Company, Special Steel Company, International Trade & Engineering Corp., Real Estate Company, Construction Engineering Group, War Industry Group, Industry Company, etc. The Group has four companies listed in Hong Kong. 　　SGIT has particular advantage of cultivating the technicians in such fields as metallurgy, IT, construction engineering, environmental protection, economic management and electromechanical integration. The blast furnace hydraulic tapper developed by our teachers is a pioneer achievement in our metallurgy industry.
　　The institute is situated in the city of Beijing, occupying an area of about 201,000 square meters. It is well-equipped with modern facilities for teaching purposes. There are modern buildings, such as comprehensive teaching buildings, laboratory centers, E-reading rooms, a recreational house, a gymnasium, cafeterias, and apartments for students, etc. The library covers about 6,100 square meters with more than 200,000 volumes of books in it. The teaching facilities are in the leading role among the same level colleges in Beijing.

Long-term student: Double Room: RMB 3200 per student per year
Four-bed Room: RMB 2000 per student per year
Short-term student: 40 RMB per day per student (Excluding water, electricity, telephone fee)
Ⅲ. Admission
（Ⅰ）. Admission requirements
1. Students for both diploma courses and further studies must have a senior middle-school diploma or equivalent and be able to study the majors in Chinese.? Students also should have good health and agree to abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese Government and SGIT. After applying and approved by SGIT, they can study the courses taught in Chinese. Otherwise they may? be arranged to study Chinese for one year at first. After passing the HSK examination and getting the qualified certificate above junior level, they can continue their majors.
2. Short-term studies, Chinese studies “one to one” and Chinese language classes: foreigners must:??

1. have a high school diploma or above
2. be aged between 18 and 60
3. have good health
4. abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese Government and SGIT
5. be interested in Chinese culture

（Ⅱ）Application and registration procedure
objective: Diploma courses、Students for further studies and Chinese language classes.
As for Chinese studies “one to one” and Short-term studies, students can come to our institute to study at any moment.

1. The start of studies: every year is divided into two semesters. The first semester starts on Sep.1, and the second starts from the middle ten days of February to the early March.
2. Admission application: Contact SGIT by mail or email to request brochure and application form, or log on our website to download the Application Form for International Students and mail the application materials to the foreign affairs office of SGIT.

Application materials include:
⑴ Submit the completed Application Form for International Students
⑵ Submit the copy of senior middle-school diploma?
⑶ Submit the copy of passport
⑷ Mail 400 RMB for the application fee

1. Procedure to China: When approved, SGIT will mail an admission notice and JW202 form to the students. With the admission notice, JW202 form, foreigners can apply for a visa at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China in student's home country. Those who plan to stay in China for over 6 months should have the physical checkup form completed by a physician.
2. Registration:
1. Register according to the time specified on the admission notice
2. Registration requires the admission notice, JW202 form, physical examination record, 8 pieces of 2-inch photos. Meanwhile the students should pay all fees at one time.

(Ⅲ) practice
After finishing their studies, the excellent students will be recommended by SGIT to the relative companies or enterprises to get practical training.
